Barcelona continued their strong form in the Liga Endesa with a 91-76 victory over San Pablo Burgos, marking their sixth win in seven league games. Xavi Pascual’s side mathematically secured a playoff spot and remain in contention for second place, needing to win their four remaining matches.

Willy Hernangómez delivered an impressive performance, recording 10 points and 10 rebounds for a valuation of 16—his second-best ACB figure in three months, trailing only the 17 he posted against Dreamland Gran Canaria last week. “Overall we played a good game, though in the second half we disconnected a bit and they outplayed us in the fourth quarter. But you can see we’re very cohesive on offense and defense. We’ve been working well together as a group for two weeks, preparing for what’s ahead,” Hernangómez told SPORT.

The center admitted he misses competing in the EuroLeague playoffs this season. “We’d love to be fighting in those playoffs and reaching a Final Four. But we have a chance to work and improve as a team. We’re following Xavi’s instructions well, and that’s the path we need to take,” he added.

With his contract expiring at the end of the current campaign, Hernangómez was asked about his future. “Right now, I’m focused on finishing the season strong and trying to finish second. And of course, winning the ACB title—that’s the trophy we’re missing. There is interest from teams, but that doesn’t interest me now. I’m focused on ending the season well, winning the remaining title, giving my all, and enjoying every day,” he shared.

With Jan Vesely still sidelined by knee issues, Hernangómez and Youssoupha Fall are expected to play key roles in the final weeks. Both performed well against San Pablo Burgos. The team’s next challenges are away: visiting Granada on Wednesday and Tenerife on Sunday.
