Bayern Munich have been knocked out of the Champions League semi-finals by Paris Saint-Germain, losing 5-4 on aggregate. After a 5-4 defeat in the first leg, the second leg ended in a 1-1 draw at the Allianz Arena.
“We didn’t create many clear chances, but when you do get those moments… Look at PSG – they were real killers, scoring five goals in the first leg. That’s exactly what we needed tonight. I think you could see we were really close to reaching the final, but we just couldn’t finish it off,” Neuer told UEFA’s press service.
This marks the sixth consecutive season that Bayern have failed to reach the Champions League final. Their last appearance in the deciding stage was in the 2019/20 season, when they defeated PSG 1-0 to lift the trophy. Since then, the club has suffered two semi-final exits and four quarter-final eliminations.
Manuel Neuer, now 40 years old, has been with Bayern Munich since 2011. He has made 597 appearances across all competitions for the club, conceding 498 goals and keeping 269 clean sheets. His current contract runs until the end of June 2026. According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Neuer is set to remain at Bayern for another season.
